The IUP String Area features courses in applied violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, and harp. IUP also offers a string ensemble and Symphony Orchestra.

New: Gorell String Quartet Scholarship for Fall 2022
The new Gorell String Quartet Scholarship, which will provide a $2,000 yearly scholarship renewable for four years, is a great opportunity for string students to play some of the greatest string literature. Students who receive this scholarship will have the opportunity to develop chamber music skills and perform for various events on and off campus. Students will be selected by audition.
