2. What if I have been out of school for a while and cannot contact my professors to get a letter of recommendation?

If you have been out of school for more than five years, you may submit professional letters of recommendation. If you are currently working, you may submit a letter of recommendation from your supervisor.

3. If I took my GMAT three years ago, will you accept it?

Your GMAT score is valid for five years.

4. What if I took the GRE rather than the GMAT? Can I be considered for admission?

We will consider GRE scores for admission on an individual basis. In order to be admitted, your scores must average 40 percent. You must submit official GRE scores.

5. What is your required grade point average?

We use a 1000 Rule for admission into the MBA program whereby we multiply your QPA times 2 and add your GMAT score. Both together should equal 1000. Therefore, if your QPA is slightly lower than 2.6 and your GMAT is sufficient, you may apply for the program.

6. What is the deadline for admission?

  • The deadline for Fall admission for U.S. residents is August 1.
  • The deadline for Spring admission for U.S. residents is December 1.

You can transfer up to six credits from another AACSB-accredited MBA program. The course must be less than five years old, you must achieve a “B” or better in the course, and you must provide us with an official transcript indicating the grade for the course along with a course description.

12. Can I begin the program before taking the Core I part of the program?

You can be admitted and take the Core I part of the program at IUP, through self study program, at another university, or online. You need to receive a “C” in order to get credit for the course.

13. What if I took some undergraduate business courses at another university?

As part of the admission process, we do an evaluation of your undergraduate coursework. We will let you know which courses you will receive credit for and which courses you would still need to complete before going on to the graduate part of the program. We will accept undergraduate business prerequisite courses with a grade of “C” or better.

14. If I take the Core I courses at IUP, is my undergraduate and graduate grade point average computed together?

IUP computes the undergraduate coursework you have taken separately.

15. When do the classes meet?

The graduate courses generally meet Monday through Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. and Monday through Thursday afternoons from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. We ensure that all classes are offered in the evenings within a year. Some electives and required courses may meet during the daytime.
