William Keister ’51, M’65 Gets His Sweatshirt

It took many years, but Indiana State Teachers College student William Keister ’51, M’65 finally received a sweatshirt featuring his alma mater. Once the cool weather arrived at his home in Desert Hot Springs, California, he slipped it on and sent Alumni Extra the photo.

“I can recall that in 1947-51, we did not have access to Indiana sweatshirts,” Keister wrote. “I can remember that as student body president, the dean arranged a trip to Columbia University in New York City for the secretary, treasurer, and myself to attend. I was given the honor of delivering a speech to a convention of college elected student body government personnel.

“We traveled by train and stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. What a wonderful memory. We, from Indiana, did not have identity sweatshirts. Now, I have one!

“Sorry to hear of Dan DiCicco’s passing. Since I was before his time, I did not have the pleasure of knowing him.”
