David Bluemling ’85, chief executive officer of the Pittsburgh accounting firm of Malin, Bergquist & Co., has been elected to the board of directors of CPAmerica International. CPAmerica is one of the world's largest networks of independent CPA and consulting firms and is affiliated with more than seventy large U.S. firms and more than 15,000 professionals in eighty-five countries worldwide.
CPAmerica member firms referred accounting services valued at more than $1 million to Malin Bergquist during the past year, including one of the few oil and gas company initial public offerings completed in 2007. Last June, Malin Bergquist hosted the annual conference of CPAmerica in Pittsburgh, bringing some 150 CPA firm leaders to the Steel City from across the nation in celebration of “Pittsburgh 250.”
Under Bluemling’s leadership, Malin Bergquist has grown to be one of the Pittsburgh region’s largest and most aggressively-growing CPA firms. Malin Bergquist has grown fourfold since 2001 through a series of strategic mergers and now has sixteen partners and 120 employees in Pittsburgh, Greensburg, and Erie.
Bluemling is the firm’s regional investor representative to the Allegheny Conference on Community Development and guides the firm’s sponsorship of the German-American Business Circle and British American Business Council. He is immediate past chair of the Baierl Family YMCA and is its representative to the YMCA of Pittsburgh’s Metropolitan Board. He also is immediate past president of the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh and a board director of YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee/Spencer.
