Joyce Scott-Smith ’71 received the Outstanding Dietetic Educator award at the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association’s (PADA) annual meeting on April 30, 2007. The award recognizes a dietetic educator for his or her teaching skills and mentoring of the students and interns.
Scott-Smith is director of Food and Nutrition and Dietetic Internship Director at UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside in Pittsburgh. After graduating from IUP, she received her master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and completed her dietetic internship program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Mass.
Scott-Smith has volunteered in many leadership roles on the district, state, and national levels. She is past president of both PADA and the Pittsburgh Dietetic Association and currently serves as chair-elect of the practice group, Management in Food and Nutrition Systems. She has participated in various task forces and practice groups and has been acknowledged by the American Dietetic Association with a “Recognition of Service” award. She was recognized by PADA with the Outstanding Dietitian Award in 1998 and the Keystone Award in 1996.
