Florida Reunion Update by Sam Scavo ’61

A popular gathering in Florida just keeps getting more popular. The 2006 reunion featured the “largest turnout thus far,” according to organizer Sam Scavo ’61.

Sam provided the following account of the 2005 festivities.

Our ninth annual IUP reunion, held in Naples, Fla., in February, was a huge success. A great time was had by all who attended—thanks to our hosts, Don ’62 and Lorna Gill and George ’56 and Betty Glarner, who coordinated dinner, golfing, and housing arrangements.

We met for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Gill’s lovely home at Lely Resort on February 26. On Saturday, February 27, there was time in the afternoon to golf, swim, shop, sightsee, or “you name it,” followed by a fantastic cocktail party and dinner at the Classics Club at Lely Resort. Most importantly, it was thrilling to renew friendships and reminisce.

Naples is a lovely area—plan now to attend next year. The list of alumni interested in attending this event continues to grow. What an opportunity it is to get away from the winter blahs and see old friends! There are over 150 alumni on our contact list. If you know of any others, please let me know so I can include them. We are looking forward to a great get-together next year. Hope to see you in Naples!
