Delcan Corporation, an award-winning, multidisciplinary engineering, management, and technology firm, is pleased to announce that David Veights ’80 has obtained his project management professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI).
David joined Delcan in 2008 and has more than 30 years of experience in the planning field. He has worked for private consultants and public agencies in the planning field, including analysis of planned transportation investments, preparation of environmental documents for compliance with the U.S. and Canadian Environmental Acts, strategic planning, and land use planning.
As an integral part of the Metrolinx Toronto LRT Program, David currently serves as the environmental assessment project manager, responsible for the preparation and approval of environmental assessment addenda. He previously served on the Management Team for the environmental assessment prepared for the 33-kilometer Eglinton Crosstown LRT line, directing consultants on traffic engineering and environmental documentation. During that time he also initiated the development and management of an environmental compliance monitoring.
David received his Bachelor of Science in Planning from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his Master of Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, Project Management Institute–Southern Ontario Chapter, Canadian Institute of Planners, Ontario Professional Planners Institute, American Planning Association, American Society of Highway Engineers, and Toastmasters International.
