Fairport Asset Management announced the appointment of Jonathon McAwley ’76 as advisory member of its investment committee.
McAwley currently serves as PPG Industries’ director, Benefits Investment and Financing, with responsibility for the investment activity of the U.S. DB and DC plans and oversight of international plans in Canada, the U.K., and the Netherlands with assets totaling over $7 billion.
“I am really looking forward to having Jonathon join the committee. In his role of director, Benefits Investment and Financing at PPG, he is aware of the challenges facing both U.S. and European pension management,” J.T. Mullen, Fairport’s chief investment strategist, said. “I believe his perspective will be an excellent addition to the investment committee.”
McAwley joined PPG in 1982 as part of the Internal Auditing Department. He held management positions in numerous departments, including Biomedical Systems, Corporate Treasury, and Chemicals. McAwley joined the Coatings operation in 1998 and became the director, Financial Reporting, responsible for consolidating the monthly financial results for the $5-billion coatings operations around the world. Next, he led PPG’s successful Sarbanes-Oxley compliance effort and served briefly as the corporate director, Financial Reporting, before assuming his current role in March 2006.
McAwley graduated from IUP with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a minor in Economics.
