Melissa Moorhead ’82 and Christopher Flynn ’86 were wed on June 25, 2011.
In 1979, on second floor Shafer Hall, I met a skinny guy with Peter Frampton hair. He had sparkling blue eyes, a quick wit, and an infectious laugh. We were soon inseparable. He was a Management Information Systems major and I was in the Special Education Department. Our divergent choices precluded classes together, but we spent countless hours attending campus events, listening to music, partying with friends, and just talking. We grew up together.
We kept in contact after IUP, and made numerous pilgrimages during football season to enjoy the stadium and reflect on the changes on campus. We lost contact for a few years, but rekindled our friendship in 2007. By 2009 our deep friendship had become an intense commitment to support each other for life. After a romantic proposal, our wedding plans included a strong mutual desire to embrace our past and reconnect with many wonderful friends from IUP, the majority from the class of 1982.
The wedding day and the IUP reunion on June 25, 2011, were together an epic event. Alumni traveled to the Bedford, Pennsylvania, wedding site from Maine, Texas, New Jersey, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
