Anita Kaltenbaugh M’94 wants everyone to create their own “travel bucket list” and become inspired to travel more.
She has written a book to share secrets, tips, tricks, and advice to affording more vacations and how to plan for them. Travel Secrets— Insider Guide to Planning, Affording, and Taking More Vacations is a book about, well, travel secrets! Secrets to enrich your life. Secrets that will get you off the couch and traveling more. With a chapter focused on a list of ways to “go green and afford enough money for a vacation,” you can discover how to travel more and save the planet. Another chapter—dedicated to the hottest smartphone applications, IPAD apps, and websites—can assist you with organizing all the travel websites out there. By the end of the book, you will have your travel bucket list started.
Anita started her traveling career early. Before landing in the IUP Student Affairs Program, she lived in the Midwest, east coast, the south, and the southwest. A former graduate hall director at Wallace Hall, fraternity house advisor, and intern with the Major Events Department in the College Activities Office, she has fond memories of her time spent at IUP and in the Indiana community.
From working in student development at Arizona State University and Western Maryland College, her days now find her living in Phoenix, Ariz., and in a charming little beach town on the Sea of Cortez in Puerto Penasco, Mexico, with various destinations in between.
In the last three years, Anita and her husband, Darrell (whose traveling legacy just happens to include the great, great grandson of William Clark of Lewis and Clark), have taken over ninety-nine vacations.
Anita is still traveling and is currently working on her next novel. With over one hundred articles published in various publications, she writes a monthly travel column for the Rocky Point Times newspaper.
