Becca Miller DesJardin ’82 Publishes Children’s Book about Cancer

To help young children understand the side effects of cancer treatment, Becca Miller DesJardin ’82 wrote Mrs. Fiddlesticks Wears a Hat.

The book, illustrated by Beth Owermohle, is available on the Books by Beth and Becca website.

“With a combined total of forty years of teaching, we have seen the challenges that face teachers, students, and families,” Becca said. “These hardships often appear out of nowhere. Our goal is to help explain to children that life often presents adversity, but with knowledge, understanding, and humor they can successfully navigate their way through the hard times.

“I believe that the strong foundation I received from IUP has allowed me to continue to reach my goal of helping children in the therapy setting, in the classroom, and beyond.”

A portion of the proceeds from this book will be donated to charity. The book is available through their website or at Amazon.com.
