“Another Bad-Dog Book” by Joni Cole ’80

Cover: Another Bad Dog Book

A new book by Joni Cole ’80 is due in September 2011. Titled Another Bad-Dog Book: Tales of Life, Love, and Neurotic Human Behavior, the book falls into a genre that Joni terms “humor that matters.” Material from the book has already been nominated for a 2011 Pushcart Prize.

“While this book falls in the ‘humor’ category, the material is often quite serious,” Joni said. “One piece, in particular, deals with the loss of my best friend from IUP, who died right before his fiftieth birthday.”

Here is one early review of Another Bad-Dog Book:

“This is a remarkable book, filled with stories that will touch the hearts and minds of any reader who has ever been over-attached to a pet, fought with her hair, stalked her high school crush, said long goodbyes to loved ones, or tried to talk (and talk and talk) her way through a mid-life crisis. Honest, hilarious, even passionate, Joni B. Cole makes you want to phone (not email) this new best girlfriend. Get it, read it, share it.”

In addition to Another Bad-Dog Book, Joni is the creator of the three-volume “This Day” series, including Water Cooler Diaries: Women across America Share Their Day at Work (“fascinating and eye-opening,” according to Publisher’s Weekly). She is also the author of Toxic Feedback: Helping Writers Survive and Thrive, and is a frequent speaker at writing conferences around the country, including a past gig at IUP!
