Three IUP alumni—Mary Ann Downing ’82, Kim Tyson ’80, and Bob Ogoreuc ’89 —are on the board of directors of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance and are featured in this video sponsored by Pool Safely, “The Value of Partners.”
Pool Safely is a nationwide program aimed at educating adults on what they can do to protect children from swimming pool dangers. The initiative by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is in its second year.
The National Drowning Prevention Alliance is working on a federally funded, national public education program that complements the Pool Safely campaign, which aims to reduce childhood drownings and prevent drain entrapments through public education, training programs, and strategic partnerships.
Ogoreuc recently received the G. Harold Martin Award from the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
