Recital: IUP String Project

The IUP String Project features student solo and ensemble performances in this spring student recital.

Instrument Petting Zoo

Cogswell Hall, Room 120

Immediately proceeding the Crimson Youth Voices Concert, the Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) professional women’s music fraternity will host an “Instrument Petting Zoo”. This event will give children ages eight and above (third grade and older) a chance to try out any and all of the basic band instruments that might be available to them in school.  


This event is free to anyone who is interested. SAI would love for you to bring your child to try out an instrument and find their love for music.  For more information or to RSVP, contact Elizabeth Roney at RHLT@iup.edu
 

Concert: Crimson Youth Voices

DiCicco Hall, Cogswell Hall, Rm 121

The IUP Community Music School will present a Young Voices concert featuring private students from CSM voice studios, as well as the Crimson Youth and Voce choirs under the direction of Jessica Zelenack, and accompanied by CMS piano Teaching Artist, Evan Engelstad.

The music presented by the private voice students will consist of solo selections from Italian arias, American Art Songs, and music theater repertoire from decades past through the present.  The Youth Choir will perform a wide variety of popular music selections, canons, and spirituals.  The a cappella select ensemble Voce will perform various folk songs and their own Disney inspired medley.  In addition, both choirs will be joined by the IUP Chamber Singers.
 
Tickets will be available at the door for $3, with children under age 12 attending for free.

Concert: IUP Jazz Festival

Fisher Auditorium, IUP Performing Arts Center

The Department of Music presents the 16th Annual IUP Jazz Festival. This concert serves as the culminating event for this day of jazz and features the IUP Jazz Band under the direction of Keith Young and the IUP Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Kevin Eisensmith.

As the semester ends and the new beginnings and paths approach, we celebrate performing a program of music by universal masters.

We will preform repertoire written for organ, violin, harpsichord and alto in different combinations.

For this opportunity we chose music by J.S. Bach and composers who were inspired by him,such as Haydn and Mendelssohn.

This concert is FREE ADMISSION, and there will be a reception afterwards.

Exhibit: University Museum Goes Downtown

The Artists Hand, 732 Philadelphia Street, Indiana

Selections from the museum’s permanent collection will  be on display at the Artists Hand Gallery in Downtown Indiana. Enjoy a cup of fine coffee or tea as you take in the exhibit. This exhibit runs from April 6 through May 2, 2016.

Exhibit: Bartram’s Boxes Remix

University Museum, Sutton Hall

A collaboration between the Center for Wood in Art and Bartram’s Garden features works in wood and other materials, inspired by Bartram’s passion for trees and other plants. This exhibit runs from March 26 through May 7, 2016.

Department of Art candidates for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree showcase their skills in studio art aided by individual vision and innovations across a wide range of media and processes. This exhibit runs from April 28 through May 7, 2016.
