In 1966, the American Library Association (ALA) held the first National Library Week to, in the words of the ALA, "celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use." We at the IUP Libraries firmly support the tradition of National Library Week, and each year we join the ALA and libraries across the country to recognize libraries and the role they play in the lives of their communities.
Every April, we celebrate National Library Week with displays and with events such as our video contests. Please come visit us to learn more about libraries, to take advantage of the wealth of information we can help you find, and to join us and the ALA in celebrating libraries.
This year, National Library Week runs from April 12–18, 2015.
