Julie Reynolds, associate professor in the Biology Department at Duke University and author of the popular book How Do I Write a Science Paper? visited IUP September 17-18, 2014 to discuss incorporating writing skills into the science curriculum in events hosted by the Kopchick College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the Liberal Studies Program.

Reynolds is noteworthy for her in-depth research in the field of writing-to-learn pedagogies and her popular book How Do I Write A Scientific Paper? A College Student's Primer on Fundamentals and Tips for Success.

Reynolds's visit to the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is part of the college's efforts to help students develop strong skills in scientific writing and bolster their efficiency as scientists. Related programs, such as the recent collaboration between the Writing Center and the Undergraduate Summer Opportunity for Applying Research program, contribute in helping to prepare students to be active in the scientific community.
