Scope of Service for Student Hardware Support

The document outlines the scope of service provided by the IT Support Center for student-owned hardware.

For student-owned computers, an initial one-hour diagnostic session will be provided.  If more time is needed, the computer must be checked in to the IT Support Center. Students must complete the Computer Check-in Form.

Support is provided for the following:

Operating Systems 

Microsoft Windows

  • Windows 7 (All versions)
  • Vista (All versions)
  • XP (SP2 and above)

Mac OS X

  • Snow Leopard
  • Leopard

Software Applications 

Office Productivity Suites

  • Microsoft Office (All Versions)

Web Browsers

  • Internet Explorer 6 or later
  • Mozilla Firefox 2 or later
  • Safari 3 or later*

*Not compatible with all university systems

E-mail Clients

  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Windows Mail
  • Mozilla Thunderbird
  • Apple Mail

Adobe Applications

  • Adobe Reader (Version 9.0 and above)

Anti-virus Protection

FTP Clients

  • Core FTP

Other Applications

*Currently offered free-of-charge to IUP students

IUP Systems

Hardware Support

  • Hard Drive Replacement*
  • CD/DVD Drive Replacement*
  • Memory Upgrades/Replacement*
  • Hardware Testing/Diagnosis

*Laptop drives and memory must be externally accessible
