Editing in a Moodle course is done in several ways. Once editing is turned on, you will see various icons that control editing. You will also see the drop-down menus in the center section that enable you to add Activities and Resources. While editing, you will also be able to add, delete, or move blocks of various features as desired. Select the image below to get a full screen image of a course home page with editing turned on.

Editing is activated by selecting the Turn Editing On button, found either in the Administration Block or in the upper right-hand corner of the course home page.

The principal area where you will be working is the center section. Note the various icons beside the topic title, activities, and resources, as well as on the right side of the section. The drop-down menus at the bottom of the section are where you select the resource or activity desired. We will go into more detail on these in a follow-up How To document.

The summary of editing icons used in the Activities, Resources, Blocks, and the Center sections is outlined in the table below.

The sample Activity Block below shows the icons used when editing blocks. The one icon specific to block editing is the Assign Roles icon. The last item is the Add Blocks drop-down menu. This is located on the lower right side of the course home page. From this list, you can add such blocks as the Calendar, Loan Calculator, and Quiz Results. We will go into greater deal on adding blocks in a follow-up How To document.
