Overview
IUP has extended the Streaming Media Service to the Project Directory. Instructors and students can now publish streaming media from the P drive. Files are "streamed" by placing them within the world view folder. After placing a file in the world view folder, you will need to create a link to it. Each file that is streamed will need its own link. Please note that is possible to stream from other folders within the project directory, but playback of the media is limited to the permissions set on the folder.

Basic Server Information
The Streaming Media Server runs Microsoft Windows Media Services 9.
File types that can be streamed:
- .WMV (Windows Media Video)
- .WMA (Windows Media Audio)
- .ASF (Advanced Systems Format)
- .WSX (Server-Side Playlist)
- .MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3)
Creating a Link to a Streaming Media File
In order to access your streaming media content, you will need to create a hyperlink for each file stored within your directory. Listed below are sample hyperlinks.
- A file at the root level of the world view folder:
mms://www.project.iup.edu/streaming/fall2008/COSC/COSC101/302/world view/SuttonHall.wmv
- A file within a subfolder at the root level of the world view folder:
mms://www.project.iup.edu/streaming/fall2008/COSC/COSC101/302/world view/IUP-Project/SuttonHall.wmv
