I have created a JunkMail folder, but spam is not getting moved to this folder.
Verify that you spelled JunkMail correctly. It must have a capital J and capital M and no spaces between the two words.
I created the JunkMail folder in imail. Why doesn’t it show up in my folder list in Thunderbird or Outlook?
If you create the folder in imail, but you use Thunderbird, Outlook, or another e-mail client, you’ll need to update your folder list in the client to display it.
In Thunderbird:
- Right-click on your account name and choose Subscribe...
- Select JunkMail from the list.
- Click Subscribe.
- Click OK.
In Outlook:
- Right-click on your IMAP account and choose IMAP Folders.
- Click Query.
- Select JunkMail from the list.
- Click Subscribe.
- Click OK.
How does the anti-spam service function with the imail rules?
Imail rules will be processed before the anti-spam service handles the message.
Is it better to use the JunkMail folder for potential spam, or is it better to have it flagged in the Inbox?
It may be best to have potential spam flagged in your Inbox if you have never user an anti-spam service. If you are not accustomed to checking the JunkMail folder, you could miss an important e-mail message that is incorrectly identified as spam. It may be best to use the Inbox in the beginning, and then switch to the JunkMail folder after you’ve used the anti-spam service for a while and your whitelist is populated.
