What types of blogs are available at IUP?
You can create personal and group blogs. A description of each blog type is provided below.
Personal Blogs
A personal blog is a place that's all your own. It is a place to express yourself and your ideas. IUP personal blogs can be created by IUP students and employees. Students and employees are blog administrators of their own blog. Blog permissions and properties are set by the blog administrator.
A personal blog is created as a blank blog when you login to blog.iup.edu, but it is not published. You can create as many personal blogs as you would like. If you already have a personal blog and would like to create another blog, the detailed instructions are in our how to article titled How to Create a Blog. The webpage address (URL) of the personal blogs are in the form of blog.iup.edu/username (e.g blog.iup.edu/jdoe), or, if you have additional blogs, in the form of blog.iup.edu/username/blogname (e.g., blog.iup.edu/jdoe/deltiology).
Group Blogs
A group blog is a place available to IUP employees and students where they can publish and discuss topics important to their departments or organizations. For example, a group such as the SGA (Student Government Association) could create a blog to promote discussion, or an instructor could create a group blog for a class.
You can create as many group blogs as you would like. Detailed instructions can be found in our how to article titled How to Create a Blog. Please note: If you are creating a group blog, the blog name must be more than eight (8) characters in length. Group blog webpage addresses are in the form of blog.iup.edu/groupblogname (e.g. blog.iup.edu/itservices).
