How to Change Your Username (Employees Only)

IUP employees are permitted to change their username one time (unless a legal name change has taken place). The steps below explain how to change your username.

  1. Open a Web browser and go to URSA. Click on Login to Secure Area.
  2. Enter your Banner ID (including the @ symbol at the beginning) and Personal Identification Number (or PIN), then click Login. Your Banner ID can found above your photo on your I-card.

    If you have never logged into URSA before, and you don't know your PIN, you will need to contact the Office of Human Resources at 724-357-2431. When you log in the first time, you will also be required to change the initial PIN Number and set up Security Verification Questions.
  3. Select Personal Information and Surveys.
  4. Select Display IUP Computer Account Information for Employees.
  5. Select Click Here in the sentence that begins with “If you wish to change your IUP Computing Username.” If you do not see this sentence, you have already changed your username. Please contact the IT Support Center for assistance.
  6. Carefully read the Usage and Criteria instructions before entering your new username.
  7. Enter the desired username in the box labeled New Username.
  8. Click Change Username. If the desired username meets the necessary criteria, you will receive a message that states:

    The rename request was submitted successfully. Note: Account renames are processed within one business day of the request. Your new username will not be active for one business day. Until then, please continue to use your old username when logging on.

    When the rename is processed, your password will be reset to its "initial password."
