All students, faculty, and staff at IUP are provided with an e-mail account and a network account. You'll need your username and initial password to access these services. Your username and initial password are found in URSA.

  1. Open a web browser and go to the URSA website. Click on Login to Secure Area.

  2. Enter your Banner ID (including the @ symbol at the beginning) and Personal Identification Number, or PIN, then click Login. Your Banner ID is the number above your picture on your I-Card.

Students—If you have never logged into URSA before, your initial PIN will be a randomly assigned eight-digit number sent to you with orientation materials.

Faculty and staff—If you have never logged into URSA before and you do not have an initial PIN, you will need to contact the Office of Human Resources at 724-357-2431.

You will also be required to change the initial PIN and set up two security verification questions if this is the first time you've used URSA. The PIN must be eight characters, and both numbers and letters can be used.

Since the initial passwords are not considered secure, you should change the passwords as soon as possible. For the network, go to IUP Network Password Change to change your network password. For e-mail, log in to imail and click the Change Password button.

Note that when using the initial password with your Network Account, it must be typed in CAPITAL letters!

It is also recommended that you use your e-mail alias as your e-mail address.

  6. Be sure to log out of URSA by clicking on the Exit link in the upper right corner.
