SPSS

IUP has a license agreement with SPSS, Inc. to use some of their products at a reduced price level for on-campus installations.

These products include:

• IBM SPSS Statistics
• IBM SPSS Regression
• IBM SPSS Advanced Statistics
• IBM SPSS Statistics Base

Please note that SPSS 20 is installed in the public computer labs on campus for the 2012–2013 academic year.

SPSS Statistics 20 for Home Use

SPSS Statistics version 20 for home use is available for download. Click on the appropriate download link for your operating system (Windows 32-bit, Windows 64-bit or Mac) and follow the instructions to install and register SPSS.

PC Installation for SPSS v20

Expires on 8/31/2013

1. Download the appropriate zip file. When you are prompted for username and password, enter your username as iupmsd\username. The password will be your network password. If you don't know your network password, you can reset it in URSA. See How to Reset Your Own Network Password.
   • SPSS 20 for Windows 32-bit version (file is called SPSS20.zip -- 918MB)
   • SPSS 20 for Windows 64-bit version (file is called SPSS20.zip -- 901MB)
2. After the download completes, find the file on your hard drive and double-click SPSS20.zip.
3. Open _License.txt (this file contains the authorization code you will need to install and register the software.) It may take a while for it to open as the file is extracted from the zip file.
4. Double-click setup.exe to begin the installation. It may take a while for it to open as the file is extracted from the zip file.
5. Click Next.
6. Select Site license and click Next.
7. Accept the license agreement and click Next.
8. Enter your name and click Next.
9. Select additional Help languages, if desired. Click Next.
10. Click Next to accept the default installation folder.
11. Click Install.
12. When the installation completes, you must license and register the software with SPSS. Click OK to register. You must have an Internet connection to register online.
13. Select License my product now and click Next.
14. Enter the authorization code and click Next. This can be found in _License.txt. You can use copy and paste.
15. You will see Authorization succeeded when it completes. Click Next.
16. Click Finish.
17. Delete SPSS20.zip from your hard drive.

Mac Installation for SPSS v20

1. Download the appropriate zip file. When you are prompted for username and password, enter your username as iupmsd\username. The password will be your network password. If you don't know your network password, you can reset it in URSA. See How to Reset Your Own Network Password.
   • SPSS 20 for Mac (file is called SPSS20.zip -- 842MB)
2. After the download completes, the file will be decompressed. Open the SPSS20 folder.
3. Open _License.txt (this file contains the authorization code you will need to install and register the software.) It may take a while for it to open as the file is extracted from the zip file.
4. Double-click SPSS_Statistics_20_mac.dmg.
5. Double-click SPSS_Statistics_Installer.
   • You may be prompted to install Java SE runtime. Choose Install. This will download and install the Java SE runtime version needed to install SPSS.
   • If you are prompted with a message indicating that the developer is unknown, you will need to change the security settings on your Mac. Please see the knowledge base article on the Apple support site at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5290 for the steps to change this setting. Change it to "Anywhere". You can change it back after completing the SPSS installation.
   • You may receive a warning that the application was downloaded from the Internet. Click Open.
   • You may be prompted for the account information for your Mac. Enter the username and password and click OK.
6. Click OK.
7. Click Next.
8. Select Site license and click Next.
9. Accept the license agreement and click Next.
10. Enter your name and click Next.
11. Select any additional Help languages you wish to install. Click Next.
12. Click Next to accept the default installation folder.
13. Click Install.
14. When the installation completes, you must license and register the software with SPSS. Click Done to register. You must have an Internet connection to register online.
15. Select License my product now and click Next.
16. Enter the authorization code and click Next. This can be found in _License.txt. You can use copy and paste.
17. You will see Licensing Completed when it completes. Click Next.
18. Click Finish.
19. Delete SPSS20.zip from your downloads folder.
