How to Connect to the IUP Wireless Network with an Android Smartphone

Please note: The IT Support Center does not provide support for personal mobile devices like tablets and smartphones. The instructions below are provided as a resource to students and employees who wish to set up their own devices.

The staff at the IT Support Center cannot set up these devices; however, they can assist when there may be an issue with your network and/or e-mail password. Keep in mind that you can reset your own network password and reset your own e-mail password.

There are two ways you can set up your Android device on the wireless network. You can use XpressConnect if you have an existing network connection, or you can set it up manually.

XpressConnect Setup

  1. From an Android device with an active network connection, use the Web browser app to browse to
  2. Click on the link titled Click here to install the XpressConnect app. Android Market will launch.
  3. Click on the XpressConnect app and select Install.
  4. Following the install, open the Web browser and navigate back to Select click on this link to be walked through the configuration.
  5. If prompted, select XpressConnect.
  6. Select IUP Wireless Network.
  7. Enter the required information in this format: Username: iupmsd\username (substituting your IUP username) Password: your IUP network password
  8. Select Continue.
  9. Once the configuration is complete, you will be prompted and can select Done.

Manual Setup

  1. From the home screen, select menu.
  2. Select settings.
  3. Select wireless & networks.
  4. Select Wi-Fi settings.
  5. Confirm that the check box next to Wi-Fi is checked so that the Wi-Fi is enabled.
  6. Select IUP from the Wi-Fi network listings.
  7. For EAP method, select PEAP.
  8. For Phase 2 authentication, confirm that MSCHAPV2 is selected
  9. For identity, enter iupmsd\username (note the direction of the slash and substitute your IUP username)
  10. Do not enter anything in anonymous identity.
  11. For wireless password, enter your network password.
  12. Select connect
