When an IUP E-mail Message Bounces

If you've received a "bounce" message indicating that a message you sent to a student or employee at IUP has not been delivered, you should take the following steps:

  1. Try to verify that you used the correct e-mail address using the IUP Online Directory at  http://search.people.iup.edu.  
  2. If you are able to verify that the e-mail address is correct, it's possible that the e-mail account:
    1. has exceeded its quota and is temporarily unable to receive e-mail.
    2. has been inactivated because the individual is no longer at IUP (see the Computer Account Retention Policy.)
  3. If you are trying to contact an employee and are unable to do so, please contact the employee's office or department by using the IUP Online Directory or by visiting the office or departmental web site.  You may also call the IUP Office of Human Resources at 724-357-2431 to obtain contact information for the office or department.
