WebDAV stands for "Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning." It enables you to manage files for your website(s) as if the files were stored on a local hard drive. You can quickly and easily copy, move, delete, rename and upload/download course files directly from your own computer, without logging into Desire2Learn. To setup WebDAV in Windows XP, perform the following steps as outlined below.

Currently, WebDAV can only work with Windows XP for use with Desire2Learn.

  1. Click the Start button on your desktop and click My Network Places
  2. Select Add a network place as indicated by the red arrow. Click Next.
    WebDAV_AddNetworkPlace

  3. Select Choose another network location as indicated by the red arrow and click Next.
    WebDAV_ChooseAnotherNetworkLocation

  4. Enter in the Internet or network address box: http://iupdav.desire2learn.com. Note: This is only the first half of the URL.
  5. To find the second half of the URL for your course, log in to your Desire2Learn (D2L) course.
    1. Select the course name
    2. Select Edit Course from the navbar.
    3. Select Course Offering Information under the General column (as show by the image of the Course Offering Path).

    4. You will need to append the Course Offering Path to the first half of the of the course URL found in Step 4. The whole path will look similar to the image below.
      WebDAVPath

Note: The red line denotes the first half of the path you typed in. The green line denotes the second half you found in your D2L course. You may have to place a pound (#) sign at the end of the path as shown by the green arrow if it does not work the first time you try to make the connection.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Enter your D2L username and password and click OK.
  8. In the "Type a name for this network place" box, enter a short title for your D2L link. Click Next, then click the Finish button. You may need to enter your D2L username and password and click OK.
