The following list provides answers to the most common questions asked by students regarding the iclick service.
Which clicker should I purchase?
The XR ResponseCard by Turning Technologies, which is available for purchase at the IUP Bookstore.
I can't give answers in class, what should I do?
- Verify that the ResponseCard is set to the correct channel, as indicated by the red circle.
If it is not set to the correct channel, refer to the Changing the Channel on the ResponseCard XR document.
- Make sure the ResponseCard is in Presentation Mode.
- Select the menu button, and choose No when it asks, “Leave Presentation Mode?” The following screen will appear, verifying that you are in Presentation Mode and ready to respond:
What kind of batteries does the XR ResponseCard use?
- Two AAA Batteries. We recommend checking the batteries at least once a year.
- In the upper right corner of the screen, you will notice a symbol that signifies the amount of battery remaining, as indicated by the red circle.
Where do I find my device ID number?
The device ID number is located on the back of your ResponseCard XR under the bar code. The device ID number must be six digits. The numbers are hexadecimal, meaning they can only be 0-9 and A-F. Your number will not contain any O or I letters.
Why does the screen go blank on my ResponseCard XR?
The ResponseCard XR does not turn off, but goes into a sleep mode to conserve battery life. You simply press the button that correlates with the signal/response you wish to send. Press any button and the screen will pick up where you last left off. You may also press the menu button at anytime to return to the menu screen.
How do I scroll?
The scroll options are printed in blue or orange on the ResponseCard XR above or to the side of the scroll buttons.
The Yes and No buttons allow you to scroll down or up.
The 1/A and the 3/C buttons allow you to scroll left or right.
I'm trying to register my ResponseCard XR on URSA, but I keep getting an error that my device ID is already registered.
- An error of this kind means that this device ID has already been registered on URSA. Two students cannot have one device ID registered at the same time. To unregister a Device ID, see the I-Click Device ID Registration document.
- If you are planning to sell your ResponseCard XR or you have just purchased one from another IUP student, it is critical that the individual who currently has the Device ID registered removes it before the next individual tries to register it.
How do I know my response was received by the system?
If the display on your ResponseCard contains a checkmark to the right side of your answer, you can be assured that your response was received. The checkmark is sent back to your clicker only if your response has registered with the TurningPoint software.
How do I change my answer?
Simply select a new answer. TurningPoint will only remember the last answer sent while the question is still open for polling.
