I changed the “from” address in the account settings in Thunderbird (or Outlook). Now, I am unable to send e-mail messages. What happened?
This could be related to one of the following:
Sometimes, when I am sending messages, I am prompted with a Check Names dialog box that tells me several matches were found in my Address Book and asks me to select the correct one. Why does this happen?
This could happen if you are using the option “Automatically put people I reply to in my address book.” When other users change the From field in their e-mail account agent, then you reply to a message that person sends, it treats it as a different e-mail address and adds it to your address book. Both entries will have the same name, creating a duplicate when you attempt to use the name when sending. It is recommended that you turn off this feature (From the Tools menu, Options, Send tab, deselect Automatically put people I reply to in my address book. Click Apply, then OK.)
This may also happen if you have addresses in your address book from the old e-mail server (@grove.iup.edu).
