Uploading Video to itube through Moodle

  • itube is integrated with Moodle. You can upload video to itube through the Kaltura integration for Moodle.

    1. Log into Moodle and access the desired course.
    2. From the main course page, Turn Editing on.
    3. Choose the week or topic where you want the itube link to reside. Click on the link titled, Add an activity or resources.
    4. From the Add an activity or resources window select, Kaltura Video Resource at the bottom of the window in the Resources section and then click the Add button.
    5. In the Adding new Kaltura Video Resource windows, enter the name you want for the video. Adding a Description is optional.
    6. In the Video section under Media type, choose Upload media or record from webcam radio button. (This example involves uploading a video file). Click on the Add Media button.MoodleKalturaAdd
    7. If not already selected, click the Upload tab and then click the Browse button to locate the desired video on your local hard drive, network drive, or jump drive. Click the Upload button in the lower right corner of the window.

      Remember, there is an upload limited of 2GBs per file. Kaltura accepts all common video, audio, and image formats in all resolutions such as .qt, .mov, .mpg, .avi, .mp3, .wav, .mp4, .wma, .flv, .asf, .qt, .mov, .mpeg, .avi, .wmv, .m4v, .3gp, .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp; .png, .gif, .tif, and, .tiff.

      MoodleKalturaBrowseIt can take time to upload the video based on the size of the file. Once the upload is completed, click the Next button.
    8. Enter a new title for the video, tags, and a description. The tags are used to search for your videos. It is  recommended that you add a few descriptive tags to make the video searchable. You must place a comma after each tag. Click the Next button.MoodleKalturaDescribe
    9. You are returned to the Add a Kaltura Video Resource page. You should see a thumbnail of your video and the Add Media, Player properties, and Preview buttons. The Player properties button enables customization of the video player. The Preview button enables you to preview your video.MoodleKalturaReturn
    10. At the bottom of the screen, click on the Save and return to course button or the Save and display button. You will be returned to the course home page where you will see the link to the itube video you just created. It is recommended that you test the video to make sure it will play.
