Team competitions can be a great addition to your interactive presentations. The variety of competition slides available makes customizing your presentations very simple.
Locate the team competition slides by selecting Tools from the TurningPoint ribbon. From the drop-down menu, select Insert Slide. The team competition slides include:
This document also contains information regarding the Competition Settings that are available for each slide.
The best way to start a team competition presentation is with a Team Assignment slide. The following is an example of a Team Assignment Slide:
This slide allows audience members to choose a team that they would like to be on. The default options on the slide are simply Team 1, Team 2, and so on; however, these can be edited to match your presentation if you so choose. The default number of teams displayed on the slide is five, but this number can be changed within settings.
Note: If you would like to see who has joined each team after you close the polling on the Team Assignment slide during the session, select the Participant Monitor icon from the showbar (as indicated by the red circle).
Note: If you do not want participants to choose their own team, you can also manipulate your participant list to assign students to teams.
This slide displays the top individual participants ranked by their total points accumulated throughout the presentation. This slide updates dynamically after each question. The default number of participants displayed is five; however, this can be changed in settings to display up to twenty participants. You can also specify if you would like the slide to reflect the leader for the accumulated point total or only the last question polled. If you are using a participant list, the slide will display student names; if you are just collecting responses in Auto, the slide will display device IDs. The following is a default Participant Leader Board slide:
This slide displays the top teams ranked by their total points. The team's points are calculated as the average of the team's participants' points. This slide also updates dynamically after each question in the presentation. The default number of teams displayed on this slide is five; however, this may be changed within settings. You can also specify if you would like the slide to reflect the team leader for the accumulated point total or only the last question polled. The following is a default Team Leader Board slide:
The Team MVP slide displays the individual participant on each team with the most accumulated points. This feature requires a participant list, team, and correct answers. This slide is updated dynamically after each question. The following is a default Team MVP slide:
This slide displays the individual participants who responded correctly and the fastest in seconds to the most recent question. This feature requires a correct response or point value. You can opt to include all responses, not only the correct responses, within settings. This slide is updated dynamically after each question. The following is a default Fastest Responders slide:
This slide provides a graphical display of the Team Leader Board data in a three-part system. You may choose either a Balloon Race or a Horse Derby Race. Stage 1 and Stage 2 are on the same slide. The teams will all be displayed in an even line at Stage 1. The following image is an example of what that slide will look like:
Upon activating the animation (Stage 2), the objects will advance and move up, or race. This will eventually indicate and display the winner of the current round. At the completion of team slides, the Winner Slide, shown below, displays.
This slide allows participants to wager a percentage of their points on the next question slide. If the participant fails to correctly answer the slide, the amount of points wagered is lost. If the participant successfully answers the question, they are awarded that percentage of points. The following is an example of the default Wager slide:
Competition settings can be accessed by selecting Tools from the TurningPoint ribbon. Then from the drop-down menu, choose Settings. From the hierarchy on the left choose Presentation to change overall presentation settings, or choose the specific question to change settings for only one individual slide. Competition settings can be changed from the window on the right side of the same screen by scrolling down to the Competition Settings section, which contains the following settings:
