Using Films on Demand with Moodle

  • Films On Demand is a web-based digital video delivery service that allows you to view streaming videos from Films Media Group anytime, anywhere, 24/7. You can connect to a video clip in Films On Demand using Moodle with the following instructions:

    1. Go to the Films On Demand database through the library web pages. Locate the desired video clip. (Please contact the library for assistance with using the database or see the Films On Demand Help Guide.)
    2. On the Films On Demand web page just underneath the video player there is a Details tab. On this tab, there is a web link that points to the video clip. Copy this entire link.
    3. Once you have located the desired video clip log into Moodle, navigate to your course, then go the upper right-hand corner of the course home page and select “Turn on editing.”
    4. In the desired weekly or topic block of the course, select “Link to a file or website” from the Add a Resource dropdown menu, as indicated by the red arrow below.
    5. In the Adding a New Resource window, you will need to enter a title for the resource in the Name box: for example, The Civil War: The Cause. Scroll down to the section titled Link to a File or Web Site. Paste the Films On Demand URL in the location box. (As shown below)

Next, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select the Save and return to course button. On the course home page, you can click on the new link to make sure it will play.
