Uploading an itube Video to D2L

  • Adding video or audio to a D2L course is a two-step process. The first step is to add the Kaltura widget to your course homepage. Please see the article titled Adding a Widget to a D2L Course Homepage. In the second step, you upload video content as follows: 

    1. Log into D2L. Access the desired course, and then click on the Contribute Media title in the Kaltura widget.
    2. In the Kaltura Contribution Wizard, click on the Upload button in the left menu. You then click on the Browse button and select the video you wish to upload. To upload multiple files, hold down the control key as you click on the video title with your mouse. There is a 2GB upload limit per file. Once you have selected the desired file(s), click OK. Kaltura accepts all common video, audio, and image formats in all resolutions such as:
      Video files
      - .flv, .asf, .qt, .mov, .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, .wmv, .mp4, .m4v, .3g
      Audio files
      - .flv, .asf, .wmv, .qt, .mov, .mpg, .avi, .mp3, .wav, . mp4, .wma, .3g
    3.  After you select your video or audio files, you will be returned to the Kaltura Contribution Wizard. Click on the Upload button in the lower left corner of the wizard. When the video(s) are done loading, you will be returned to the wizard. Done will appear in the Status column to the left of each video uploaded. If you have completed uploading videos, click on the Next button in the lower right corner of the wizard. itubeD2LAdd
    4. Enter the identifying information on the video on the subsequent screen.
      • Title: Keep the existing title or create a new one
      • Tags: Enter descriptive words that can help you search for the video(s). Words entered must be separated by commas. (For example: Panda, Bear, Baby Bear)
      • Category: From the drop-down menu, select the ALL category.
      • Description: Add a description of the video if desired.
    5. Once all of the information is entered, click on the Next button in the lower right of the wizard. You will be returned to the course homepage. Once a video has been uploaded to Kaltura, you can insert the video into a D2L course.
