A blog (web log) is a tool that empowers you to publish quickly and simply to a website. It is a place that can be used to support teaching and learning, note taking, sharing thoughts and images, scholarly communication, and individual expression. You can customize how your blog looks and feels by choosing from a series of templates.
Getting Started with Blogs
Access and Security
To create and manage blogs, faculty, staff, and students must login with their IUP computing username and password. Blogs can be moderated by setting permissions for who can post or comment to your blog. Techniques are available to minimize spam in your blog.
Navigation
Finding your way among the blogs at IUP is made easier using links on the blog home page. You can find popular topics using the tag cloud. The most popular tags are represented in large highlighted text.
You can search the blogs by keyword to find topics you are interested in. Simply enter your criteria in the search box and click on either the Search Entries or Search Tags button, depending on which you would like to search. Tags are descriptive terms associated with a blog.

If you choose to subscribe to a blog with an RSS reader, you can search by entries or tags as well. Simply enter your criteria into the search text box and select RSS from the drop-down menu. Next, click on either the Search Entries or Search Tags button, depending on which you would like to search. The next screen enables you to select the program you wish to use to subscribe to blogs.

Links to the latest blog entries and most active blogs also appear on the blog home page.
