Policies and Requirements

The following policies, limitations, and requirements have been established for the Internship Office.

Determining Credits
Code of Ethics

Undergraduate students must meet both the university requirements (at least 57 semester hours completed and a 2.0 GPA or above) and standards set by the department in which the internship is being completed. No more then 12 credits can be earned for the internship.

Graduate students must have earned at least 12 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. No more than six credits can be earned for the internship.

Students will be required to submit a final project before a grade is given to them.

Student must have earned 30 credits and must have a minimum of a 2.00 GPA.

Determining Credits
The number of credits a student can receive is dependent upon the number of hours worked; 40 hours of work equals one academic credit; six credits would require 240 hours worked.

"As an IUP student, I realize that it is my responsibility to cooperate with the employer and to hold in professional confidence any information gained regarding the business of the firm, institution, or agency and to refrain from using such information in an unethical manner. It is my further responsibility to maintain high personal standards and a willingness to learn the job."

A news release about your internship or co op experience will be sent to your hometown paper. If you do not want this information published, please notify the experiential education officer.
