Dr. Stephan-Robinson completed her Ph.D. in Music Theory from Eastman School of Music and is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Music and Theater at West Liberty University. DESCRIPTION:Presented by the IUP Counseling Center, this is the first of several free activities scheduled during Chris Beckman's visit to campus April 1-4.  Catapulted into the national spotlight when he was only 24, artist and former Ralph Lauren model Christopher Beckman's substance abuse and homosexuality were tabloid fodder during his stint on MTV's "Real World Chicago."  Sober for 12 years now, Beckman will lead a workshop candidly discussing his struggles with addiction, his recovery, and how he deals with the "real world" today.  This workshop will be of great benefit to anyone wanting to better understand addictions and coulseling those in recovery and is open to the public.

DESCRIPTION:Throughout his years of chemical dependency, his time in the spotlight as a cast member of MTV's "Real World Chicago," his work as a Ford Agency model, his speaking engagements across the country, his life as an openly gay man, and the last 12 years in sobriety, a unique personal history has always and continues to inform Christopher Beckman's work as an artist.  In this free workshop, open to everyone regardless of their art background, Beckman will take you on a visual journey through his photography, painting, and sculpture that illustrate his life and gives visual reference to many of the points raised in his recent book.  There will be ample time for questions and answers, with an informal reception to follow.
