Tuition Reimbursement Form for OPEIU Bargaining Unit Employees

  • Additional information for tuition reimbursement for OPEIU employees per the OPEIU collective bargaining agreement.  The Out-Service Tuition Reimbursement form must be approved by the Office of Human Resources before the training start date.

    1. OPEIU Agreement, Article 40, Section 4, "Full-time employees shall be eligible for tuition for tuition reimbursement up to a maximum of $2,000 per contract year for the period July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2012, after successful completion of accredited academic undergraduate or graduate courses, which would enable professional employees to maintain or improve skills required in performing their current job duties, or, in the case of employees who are enrolled in degree program which are necessary for completion of a degree in nursing or related health-care field.”
    2. OPEIU Agreement, Article 40, Section 5, "Reimbursement under Section 4 above will be made for course which are approved in advance by University management...University management will respond to request for approval of courses at the local level within five working days and at PASSHE level within ten working days."
    3. OPEIU Agreement, Article 40, Section 6, "Reimbursement will be contingent upon successful completion of the course (attainment of a grade of “C” or better).  Employees who terminate employment before the end of the course will not be eligible for reimbursement."
    4. OPEIU Agreement, Article 40, Section 7, summarizes that part-time employees who have an FTE of at least .5 shall be eligible for tuition reimbursement on a pro rata basis.
