Living Learning Partners Appreciation Coffee Event Held

IUP Sophomore Featured in “Black Enterprise” Magazine

Ryan Stewart, a sophomore at IUP majoring in accounting, was featured as an “American Dreamer” in “Black Enterprise” magazine. Ryan is a part of the Student Managed Investment Portfolio, mentors incoming first year students, and serves as a community assistant in the Business Living-Learning community.

Diversity Awareness Program Brought to Campus

IUP alumnus Justin Brown engaged a group of students, staff, and faculty members in a diversity program, “Diversity, I’m ’Bout That Life,” which falls under the Diversity Awareness Program, the platform he uses to travel the country educating colleges and universities about diversity awareness.

Social Justice LLC Program

On February 29, 2016, the Delaney Suites Social Justice Living Learning Community, in collaboration with the African American Culture Center, hosted a program in celebration of black history month titled “An Evening with Dr. Melvin Jenkins, talking about race and the important role the Tuskegee Airmen played in World War II.”

Housing and Residence Life Student Staff Put on Senior Prom at St. Andrew's Village

The student staff from the IUP Office of Housing and Residence Life held a senior prom at St. Andrew's Village, a local assisted living facility, on January 16, 2016. Dozens of residents participated in the event and were entertained with BINGO, board games, crafts, and live music by IUP students.

Winter Workshop Concludes for Spring 2016

In January, the Office of Housing, Residential Living, and Dining conducted its annual training for the student staff, including Diversity Behind Closed Doors, where student staff members were put through scenarios where their "residents" were working through difficult life issues related to diversity.
