About Hospitality Management

We aim to develop competent, entry-level, hospitality management professionals who exceed contemporary industry needs. Our mission is to prepare students to attain continued future career growth and achievement.


To accomplish this mission, the department has developed the following student outcomes:

Students will demonstrate an ability to apply the following hospitality management human relations skills:

  • Understanding of organizational theory and behavior of a service culture
  • Diversity
  • Working in teams
  • Human behavior

Students will demonstrate knowledge in Hospitality Management operational areas:

  • Food preparation
  • Food production
  • Food safety
  • MIS as it relates to hospitality management
  • Finances and accounting
  • Legal issues
  • Marketing

Students will demonstrate the ability to communicate, as follows:

  • Competency in written communication
  • Competency in oral communication

Students will demonstrate an understanding of their professional and ethical responsibility in hospitality management:

  • Acting in a professional and ethical manner while completing coursework and while on internship

Students will demonstrate an understanding of continued scholarly growth and community service through the following:

  • Participation in student clubs, honor societies, and service-learning activities
