Schedule a Visit

Lori in her room in Whitmyre HallChoosing the right college for you is a very important decision, and it requires a great deal of thought and effort on your part. It's important to know whether a college is the right fit for you, and you will not be able to judge that well unless you visit the colleges in which you have a serious interest.

There are several different kinds of visit options, so be sure to pick the one that meets your needs and expectations.

Come to an Overnight Open House

Overnight Open House events are a great way for you to experience the living-learning community at the Cook  Honors College.  You will arrive at Whitmyre Hall at 7PM on Friday with your parents. You will tour the building.  After a short talk by the Honors College director or associate director, a panel of students will answer your questions Then your parents leave.  You are then invited to a sort of slumber party with Cook Honors College students.  Bring your sleeping bag and prepare for some fun as well as a chance to see what life is like here outside of class and to talk individually with as many students as you like.  After breakfast Saturday morning your parents join you in the Great Hall for a talk on how the honors curriculum works.  You will then join other students in a sample honors core class with one of our professors. (There's even a reading assignment in advance!)  While you are in class, the Honors College director and associate director answer any further questions your parents have.   A student host will then take you and one or two other families for a campus tour focused on academics and whatever facilities you are interested in, ending in the dining hall for a free lunch.  After that your student host will take you to the IUP Expo where faculty and representatives from all of IUP's majors will be on hand to talk with you about the field(s) of study you are most interested in.  Depending on how long you want to linger at the Expo,  you might be done by 2 or 3 p.m.
