“When I first came to IUP, I was overwhelmed not only by the Honors College coursework, but also by the culture shock I experienced. I believe that my first semester was really hard because I had to overcome both. However, when I got used to IUP and the Honors College, everything started seeming much easier. I found Core classes very engaging, where I am always asked my opinion on every topic, while, at home, professors care more about the information you learned from the book without your personal interpretation. Also, I enjoy spending time with my friends from Core classes. I feel that students there are very nice and easy to get along with. For me, Whitmyre was the place where I understood the meaning of the word ‘community.’”
