Assistant Director of Honors Program - Virginia Tech

University Honors provides the opportunity for students of exceptional academic talent to seek a superior education. The Honors Program serves all colleges and academic departments. The Assistant Director supports the Director in providing leadership to fulfill the multi-faceted mission of the Honors Program, where classroom experiences are used as a launching pad for involvement in the other avenues of Honors including undergraduate research, international travel experiences, varied cultural opportunities, selected collegiums, beneficial community service projects, key instruction for internationally competitive scholarships and interaction with top faculty.

Core Responsibilities

Works with students, faculty, and staff to achieve the goals and values of University Honors, encouraging students to make themselves interesting and to take control of their education. Oversees student progress with Course of Study Planner, diplomas, scholarship development, personal statement review, and advising. Participates in honors staff activities: staff meeting, information sessions, recruitment, evaluation & visioning, and assessment. Oversees the Pamplin Leader/Scholar program. Works with the wider university community through committees and other means. Ensures compliance with university policies and federal and state laws. Other tasks at the discretion of the Director of Honors.
