Supplemental Essay and Questions Required for Honors College Applicants
After you have completed the IUP Undergraduate Freshman application, you will need to submit an essay and short answers to the questions below. Once you complete and submit your application online, you will need to download the essay and short answer form, complete it, and e-mail, mail, or fax it to the Admissions office. If you are downloading your application, the form will be included in the download pdf file.

- No program is right for everyone, and our program is unique in many ways. For your sake and ours, it's important you know what you are getting in to. What in particular about the Cook Honors College motivated you to apply?
- Obviously SAT scores and grades only give us one dimension of you. What else should we know about you that will help us determine what you will contribute to our "Community of Scholars?"
Essay Question
Essay: In 250 to 500 words, please respond to one of these essay prompts from the National Common Application:
- Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.
- Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.
- Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence.
- Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence.
- A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you.
- Topic of your choice.
