Brad Rives earned his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in 2005 and joined the faculty at IUP in 2006. His main research interests are in philosophy of mind and philosophy of psychology, with strong secondary interests in metaphysics. Recent work of his on the nature of conceptual thought, the relation between concepts and perception, and the nature of properties has appeared in such journals as Philosophical Studies, Minds and Machines, and American Philosophical Quarterly. Dr. Rives has taught Junior Core and is looking forward to teaching Freshman Core in Fall 2010. He enjoys the wonderfully engaged and energetic students at the HC, as well as its small class sizes, which are ideal for philosophical dialogue.
