Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions about College of Health and Human Services.

What do we mean by health and human services?

All the programs in our college are related in some way to the health-oriented professions (such as Nursing, Respiratory Care, Clinical Lab Science, Nuclear Medicine, Dietetics, Nutrition, Exercise Science, etc.) or to other professions that are focused on helping people (such as Safety Sciences, Hospitality Management, Child and Family Studies, Family and Consumer Sciences Education, etc.)  A complete list of our departments is available.

Do these different fields have anything in common?

Although our programs are very diverse, they do have something very important in common:  They are all applied professional disciplines.  In other words, our students study the theory underlying their program and then focus on applying it to their profession.

How can alumni and community members get involved with the College of Health and Human Services?

Great question!  You may contact our college office, any of our department offices, orthe Alumni Relations.   There are many ways in which alumni and community members can volunteer (for example, helping with special events, recruiting, or job information).  You can also make donations to scholarship funds and other funds.  Check our events calendars and Inside IUP, too, to find special events of interest to you at the unviersity or in the departments.
