Openings for Fall 2008 in the College of Health and Human Services are still being processed. Please check back for additional openings. Most positions require student advising, curriculum development, intern supervision, research, and service to the university and community. The successful candidates for most positions may be assigned to perform work at off-campus sites and/or provide instruction through distance education. See the Human Resource Jobline for complete descriptions and requirements. The positions below begin August 2008 unless otherwise noted.

Faculty Positions

Criminology Department - Two full-time, tenure‑track positions. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related social science discipline by time of appointment. Areas of specialization are open, but preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate research and/or teaching experience in at least one of the following areas: policing; law and legal issues; substance use and crime; white collar, environmental, and organized crime; terrorism; crime prevention and criminal justice policy; and advanced analytical methodologies.

Health and Physical Education - One full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the level of assistant professor in the specialties of Health and Physical Education Pedagogy. 

Human Development and Environmental Studies
Child and Family Studies - One nine-month tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level. Responsibilities include teaching a variety of undergraduate courses in such areas of Child and Family Studies as child development, early care and education, parent education, family dynamics, family policy, and family and community relationships.

Family and Consumer Sciences Education - One nine-month tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in the Family and Consumer Sciences Education major in such content areas as consumer economics, personal and family management, and introductory interior design. 

Fashion Merchandising - One nine-month tenure track faculty position at the assistant professor level. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in the Fashion Merchandising major, including the content areas of fashion promotion, clothing construction, and introductory fashion concepts.

Interior Design - Three nine-month tenure track faculty positions at the assistant professor level. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in the Interior Design major, including writing intensive, introductory, and advanced studio courses. Content areas may include residential and commercial design, CADD, lighting, historic and modern interiors, hand drafting, three-dimensional design, and materials and finishes.

Nursing - Several tenure track and temporary positions at the assistant/associate rank. Candidates should demonstrate clinical expertise in adult health, advanced medical-surgical nursing (critical care), and/or maternal child nursing. Expanding programs provide exciting opportunities for faculty members to teach in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. IUP offers CCNE accredited programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing (education and administration tracks). 

Safety Sciences - Two, possibly three, full-time, tenure-track positions. The Safety Sciences Department offers undergraduate and M.S. degree programs in safety sciences, as well as an undergraduate minor and a graduate certificate of recognition. It is anticipated that the position will be at the assistant or associate professor rank, commensurate with qualifications of the applicant. Teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels plus commitment to scholarly work and community service are expected.
