IUP’s Ashton Smith (Scarborough, Ont./West Hill Collegiate) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Men’s Basketball Athlete of Week, it was announced on Monday, December 12, 2011.

The IUP women's basketball team will opens its 2011-2012 regular seasons on Saturday, November 12, at the brand-new Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. Tip off is 2:00 p.m. against Goldey-Beacom.

IUP will host the third annual “Coal Bowl” football game on October 29, 2011, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Coal Association. The annual game, when IUP plays California University of Pennsylvania, falls this year on IUP's Family Weekend.

The IUP men’s and women’s basketball teams will start their seasons on Saturday, November 12, at Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex. The women will tip at 2:00 p.m. against Goldey-Beacom, while the men are scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start against Seton Hill.

Melissa Kornock (Hatfield/North Penn) has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week, the second straight Crimson Hawks player to receive the honor.
