The thesis/dissertation is a part of an academic tradition that provides many rewarding opportunities to be creative and innovative. It is a public document that carries your name and IUP’s into the world.
Your thesis or dissertation is representative of your ability to conduct original research in your chosen field. As such, future employers may review your thesis or dissertation to make hiring or tenure decisions. For this reason, the School of Graduate Studies and Research and the graduate faculty have established standards in order to produce a publication of the highest quality.

Deadlines for Spring
April 1
Draft copy of thesis or dissertation for May graduates is submitted to grad-research@iup.edu for review.
April 15
Signed thesis or dissertation signature page and necessary forms are submitted to the Thesis-Dissertation Office, 120 Stright, for May graduates.
April 15
Electronic thesis or dissertation is submitted to ProQuest for May graduates.
May 1
Both master's and doctoral candidates planning to graduate in May have applied for graduation through URSA.
May 15
Master's candidates planning to graduate in August 2013 have submitted the Research Topic Approval Form.
May 15
Doctoral candidates planning to graduate in December 2013 have submitted the Research Topic Approval Form.
