- The doctorate is conferred for distinguished achievement in a particular field of scholarship and for demonstrated ability to perform independent research and/or professional practice in an area of that field.
- Doctor of Philosophy Programs

- Master of Arts Programs
- The School of Graduate Studies and Research offers Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees in academic fields from seven different colleges.
- Master of Business Administration
- The IUP M.B.A. is designed to prepare working professionals for successful managerial careers in today’s challenging global business environment. It is also structured to give recent college graduates advanced training in current theory and practice in all major areas of business administration and to prepare them for entry-level management positions.
- Master of Education
- IUP offers several M.Ed. degrees from the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology, the College of Health and Human Services, and the College of Education and Eductional Technology.
- Master of Fine Arts
- The M.F.A. is the highest level of professional competence in the fine arts. It requires the development of a verbally and visually articulate argument in a chosen medium, such as painting, drawing, sculpture, print media, metals, woodworking, ceramics, fibers, and trans-media collaborations.
