Providing graduate education since 1957, IUP offers more than seventy graduate programs, including ten doctoral programs, to more than two thousand graduate students.
IUP is the only public university in Pennsylvania classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a Doctoral/Research university. IUP is also a member of the Council of Graduate Schools, the Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools, and the Pennsylvania Association of Graduate Schools.
